Laurie Saurborn, founder of Mapmaker Mental Health & Wellness LLC, is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BC) with experience in delivering client-centered holistic mental health care for adult clients. Treatment may include diagnosis and medication management of mental health conditions, as well as psychotherapeutic interventions and trauma-informed care for individuals seeking to collaboratively address barriers to mental health wellness.

Specialty areas for adults (18 years and older) include:

  • depression, anxiety & mood disorders

  • grief

  • end-of-life issues

  • chronic health issues

  • caregiver challenges

  • mood issues related to perimenopause and menopause

  • life stage changes, such as starting college, marriage, divorce, relocation, and employment changes

Please note: Currently, this practice is private-pay only (no insurance accepted) and does not prescribe stimulant medications for the treatment of ADHD.

About Laurie . . .

Laurie Saurborn is a PMHNP and detail-oriented communicator dedicated to delivering equitable, high-quality mental health care to clients in the outpatient setting. She has extensive experience providing medication management, psychotherapeutic interventions and biopsychosocial education to adult populations with mental health and medical conditions. As well, Laurie has inpatient RN experience in the psychiatric hospital setting, and has worked in community mental health care with clients in traditionally underserved areas.

In addition to her work in mental health, Laurie has significant experience in the creative arts as a program director, writer, and educator of college students. She believes deeply in the importance of creative arts and artistic expression to mental health and well-being.

As a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) she values and appreciates the profound connection between how our bodies feel and how we see the world. Laurie has served as a hospice volunteer, and as a caregiver for family members living with longterm health conditions.

Her educational background includes:

  • MS, College of Nursing, The Ohio State University

  • MFA, Creative Writing, Warren Wilson College

  • BA, Psychology, UNC-CH

15 minutes / free of charge

Offered to prospective clients to determine if your goals and Laurie’s approach are a match.

Initial Consultation

75 minute session / $180.00

During the first appointment, a detailed psychiatric and medical history will be taken, treatment goals discussed, and a treatment plan formulated.

Follow-up Appointments

45 minute session / $125

Ongoing appointments that may include medication management, mood and symptom checks, and targeted psychotherapeutic interventions as appropriate.
